Changes to Tax Free Shopping in Italy

Italy is launching a new digital Tax Free Shopping system, meaning that from now, you need to provide your passport details in-store for all of your Tax Free purchases

What does this mean for me?

A digital Tax Free Shopping process saves you time - thanks to its paperless approach, the overall process is faster and more efficient with airport queuing time reduced.

It also minimises the risk of errors on your Tax Free Form, so that you can be even more confident of a successful VAT refund.

What do I need to know?

The most important change to remember is that you now need to take your passport details: (passport number and passport issuing country) with you when shopping in Italy, as the store staff will need to insert them in the system, alongside other information in order to initiate the Tax Free Shopping transaction.
