How to Claim your VAT

Go Shopping

Get an invoice (no sales receipt or ticket) on your or your sponsor's name and address in Belgium. Always pay the total amount, VAT included.

Remember, no refund without

  • Original invoice
  • Completed and stamped form 151
  • Completed details and refund method

At the VAT - office or
VAT - responsible

Complete two original VAT and/or Excise Duty Exemption Certificates (forms 151) for each invoice & get the forms stamped and signed

  • Box 1 - Personal Information, name and address
  • Box 3 - Check the Box which concerns the intentions of your purchased goods + your name and signature
  • Box 4 - Get the form stamped and signed by the concerning authority
  • Box 5 - A. Store details including VAT number - B. Invoice number + Date + Price without VAT

Every 151 form needs to be completed in the home country language (language where you need to be refunded).


Receive Your Refund

  • Complete your details, your payment method (EU Bank Account issued in Eurozone or Credit Card), and preferred refund option inside the envelope provided by the store.

  • Mail your original stamped form 151 and original invoice back to us in the envelope provided and get your refund paid to your credit card or bank account.

  • If no envelope has been provided by the store, please send the completed documents, together with your name, e-mail address, refund method (EU Bank Account issued in Eurozone or Credit Card) and preferred refund option to the address underneath.

  • When submitting your documents to Global Blue for a VAT refund, you will need to select one of the two refund options available. These options can also be chosen within the special envelope provided for your convenience by the retailer:
  1. Refund within 30 days (minus a handling fee of 1% of the purchase amount with a minimum of € 4.00 per EU Certificate 151)
  2. Refund after 6 months (no charge)
  • Important: if no choice has been made, Global Blue will automatically process the fastest refund method, which incurs the handling fee.
  • Global Blue is only able to process & refund invoices, issued by retailers who have outsourced this special refund service to Global Blue. You can find the up-to-date list of the affiliated stores here.
  • If the retailer is not affiliated with this service yet, we’ll ask them to outsource this administrative operation to us to process your request. If they wish to do this themselves, Global Blue will not be able to process your request and we’ll return you the documents to allow you to submit your request to the retailer directly.
