1966: the year that England won the World Cup and Beatlemania peaked was also the year that London’s Centre Point skyscraper was unveiled. More than 50 years on, Vivi restaurant invites diners to step back in time and applaud the wonders of this unforgettable era. Brought to you by the Rhubarb group, the masterminds behind Sky Garden, Vivi boasts sumptuous pastel pink and teal seating, cubist chandeliers and lashings of gold.
Peruse the venue’s four key areas. The Liquid Lounge is an ideal spot to grab a reviving early morning coffee or juice, an indulgent afternoon tea or some light bites and a tipple or two. Slip into one of the pale pink booths and colour coordinate with a Seifert cocktail. Combining gin, rosebud syrup and pink grapefruit, and topped with candy floss, this delicious drink is named after the Centre Point architect, Richard Seifert. Continue your exploration of the drinks menu at the Bar. Every cocktail listed is paired with a suggested bar snack; enjoy devils on horseback with a tequila-based Dazed and Confused or a Pink Floyd Rhubarb with a bag of doughnuts. Watch in admiration as the bartenders lovingly mix these impressive concoctions.
The Dining Room is where chef Arnaud Delannay is able to showcase his craft. Serving everything from breakfast and brunch to lunch and dinner, the space is captivating and stylish. In the evening choose from revived retro throwbacks including prawn cocktail, chicken Kiev and duck à l’orange followed by rum baba and sherry trifle. Dominated by a stunning plexiglas chandelier designed by Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt, the space evokes the bauhaus movement and French art nouveau. The final area, the Gallery, is made up of sharing tables and accommodates laptop lunches or solo diners who are pushed for time. There is even a private dining room, seating up to 14 guests, for those looking for a venue for a special occasion.
The only way to transport oneself back to the 60s without a time machine, Vivi is a must-visit.
