Bright and early on Sunday morning, Nicole Farhi invited the great and good of the fashion industry to the Royal Courts of Justice for her autumn/winter 2012 show. Guests including Anna Wintour, Hamish Bowles of US Vogue and actor Bill Nighy lingered over Champagne and orange juice before the show began.
This is the 30th year for the Nicole Farhi label, which began as a small womenswear collection and now also includes menswear and diffusion lines as well as a popular restaurant. This season, Farhi focused on an earthy palette of charcoal, stone and sand, with touches of burnt umber and aubergine. Her simple, flattering silhouettes included slim trousers, tulip skirts, jersey dresses and outerwear with origami-like folding. Sequins and metallic detailing also featured heavily. Standout pieces included a burnt gold boiled-wool peplum jacket and a multi-tone paillette knee-length skirt.
