Despite being only its second season showing in London, Moschino Cheap and Chic already feels as if it was made for the city with its witty, fun, flirtatious collections. For spring/summer 2013, creative director Rossella Jardini has taken inspiration from the 1960s and 1970s with flared trousers, cropped paisley blouses and cute mini dresses appearing throughout her exuberant collection.
The label’s playfulness shines through in its use of a recurring pineapple print, seen blown up on blazers, shaped into quirky shoulder bags and dotted over dresses, while the colour palette was similarly fruity; plum shift dresses, tangerine suits and lime-green suiting were among the highlights. Despite the overriding sense of fun, this was a surprisingly practical offering and outerwear was particularly strong, seen in patent red and blue macs, sporty bomber jackets and versatile cropped jackets.
