Daks experimented this season without straying too far from the classic chic Britishness we know and love. The collection began with a string of simple summer dresses in fresh and light ice whites and cloudy lemonade yellows. Crisp white shirts and skirts in cotton and chiffon followed, perfect for a day at a polo match or tennis, no doubt what the Daks client already has in mind.
Camel and tan separates marked the start of the collection’s move into darker colours, with a throng of black and leather looks taking the show to its close. Drawstring details and leather belts gave shape to the dark silhouettes, which were unusual in a spring/summer collection, yet somehow worked.
Despite this more experimental collection, the brand’s love of British heritage was still as strong as ever and the Daks house check made an appearance on coats and capes. The check also kept popping up on the darker pieces, reminding us that while Daks may be trying new things it definitely hasn’t forgotten its roots.
