Set against the opulence of the Savoy’s ballroom, Jo Sykes’s third collection for Aquascutum was strikingly military and utilitarian in tone, with an emphasis on outerwear and an olive-green colour palette. Silhouettes were sleek, featuring tapered pencil skirts and slim-fit, ankle-skimming trousers paired with relaxed, oversized white shirts.
There were nods to the label’s heritage roots with a herringbone-patterned coat, while the aviator jacket received another airing, this time in textured shades of white and navy. Accessories were particularly effective; long, severe leather gloves featured in every ensemble, complementing the equally harsh pointed-toe stiletto-heeled boots. Even so, outerwear was the real highlight of the collection, whether full length with cut-out details, short and tailored or voluminous with billowing arms and turned-up collars.
Model Poppy Delevingne, a front-row regular, was joined by actor James Corden and singer Harry Styles, proving that this traditional brand still has broad popular appeal.
