Relaxing over afternoon tea is a quintessential British pastime, so what better way to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding than with a special themed afternoon tea.
This month, the Savoy has launched a special Royal Afternoon Tea menu, offering guests the chance to enjoy a quintessentially British experience. The Savoy has been a favourite with the British royal family since 1895 and continues to welcome its members through its doors.
In honour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding and of the hotel’s long-standing connection with the royal family, the Savoy has created the new Royal Afternoon Tea. Guests are welcomed with the choice of two English sparkling wines from the Rathfinny Wine Estate, including Rathfinny’s first vintage of Sussex Sparkling exclusively available to mark the royal moment.
High tea favourites, including a range of teas, are served with delicious finger sandwiches ranging from coronation chicken on olive bread to smoked salmon. The savoury selection is then followed by homemade scones with clotted cream and an incredible choice of jams – we adored the marmalade with raspberry. The real draw of the Royal Afternoon Tea menu is the delicate cakes, which include Her Majesty the Queen’s favourite made with soft chocolate ganache, rich tea biscuits and rum-soaked raisins. As well as the chocolate cake, the selection includes strawberry tartlet, pistachio macaron with fruits, wild berry ganache and traditional Battenberg cake.
Served in the Thames Foyer under the beautiful glass dome, the Royal Afternoon Tea at the Savoy is a wonderful way to toast the new couple and to sample one of the best afternoon teas in London.
