Bijou and well thought through, the interior of Oliver Maki’s Soho restaurant reflects the style of its dishes. The Oliver Maki group already has several award-winning eateries located throughout the Middle East and, with the opening of its London branch, customers in the UK capital can now enjoy its twist on classic Japanese cuisine. Cofounder Oliver Zeitoun is Lebanese-Canadian and his multicultural heritage brings an international flavour to a menu that focuses on sushi and sashimi.
Diners are presented with iPads that showcase dishes such as crispy calamari and chuka seaweed salad, but the highlight is the restaurant’s signature Sushi Jewels Omakase. Presented in a Perspex box similar to a jewellery box, this dish comprises 12 separate sushi pieces, each served in its own compartment. The spectacular presentation is only rivalled by the variety of flavours within. Round off your meal with one of the restaurant’s elegant and imaginative desserts, including matcha tiramisu or yuzu crème brûlée.
