Manolo Blahnik is making Liberty his second permanent home in London after his flagship store on Old Church Street in Chelsea. Signature designs such as the Sedaraby d’Orsay pump and the Campari, the Mary Jane which has been proclaimed as the world’s best-designed shoe, will be sold alongside this season’s styles in a dedicated boutique on Liberty’s first floor.
Many designs will be available in a range of floral Liberty prints exclusive to the 137-year-old department store. ‘The products sold at Liberty are unique and cannot be found anywhere else,’ says Blahnik, who was awarded a CBE in 2007 for his services to the British fashion industry. ‘I adore the Liberty fabrics and I use some in every collection.’
Blahnik’s creations first visited Liberty in 2010 and this permanent space continues the influential shoe designer’s success at the store. It will house his unique collection of shoes, tote bags, scarves and accessories inscribed with his instantly recognisable watercolour drawings.
