With a growing number of international travellers visiting the UK, it was only fitting that we should ask Yuan Fang, our Chinese editor, for her insights into the best places to shop in London.
When Yuan arrived in the UK four years ago, she quickly picked up on London’s eclectic, carefree fashion scene, which she has found bold, expressive and full of vibrant energy.
When it comes to shopping, Yuan’s top British picks are the flamboyantly abstract Alexander McQueen label and the classic heritage Burberry brand, together with on-trend fashion hub Topshop and men’s outfitter Dunhill.
Among the city’s department stores, Yuan’s favourite is Liberty of London, for its consistent support of emerging fashion designers. Liberty’s many unique qualities ensure it stands out. For a one-stop shop, Selfridges ranks high on Yuan’s list, as the store is home to world-famous designer labels, displayed across four floors, all under one roof.
To end the day, Yuan likes nothing more than chilling out in Hyde Park, then heading to Chinatown for a bite to eat, before finishing her perfect day in London with a visit to the theatre.
