8.30am: London Fashion Week autumn/winter 2013/14 starts early with a coffee, of course.
9am: The first show of LFW starts and it’s Zoë Jordan.
Brix Smith-Start from Start boutique tweeted: ‘Loved @ZoeJordanStudio show. Lots of easy tailoring, monochrome mixed with Fushia and tangerine blasts of colour. @MercedesBenzUK #LFW’
9.56am: We arrive at the Somerset House courtyard to do a little people-watching and collect our press passes for the week ahead.
MatchesFashion tweeted: ‘Metallic and holographic heels will work with virtually anything to add a futuristic edge Ruth #HouseofGrazia #matcheslfw #futurama’
11am: The Bora Aksu show began only slightly past its scheduled time with shearling and leather structures and corsets produced in collaboration with the Turkish Leather Council, softened by sheer fabrics which flounced as the models walked.
Embroidered headdresses with a distinctly Ottoman feel also brought the designer back to his Turkish roots. Opening pieces in greys of all tones from green to lilac hinted at colours to follow; deep purple and magenta accented later looks and eventually took over the entire runway.
11.45am: Time to soak up some much-needed sunshine while planning the day ahead before Jena Theo’s salon show in the Somerset House Portico Rooms.
12.16pm: Fyodor Golan continues the headdress theme at the Savoy.
Bonnie Rakhit tweeted: Embellished face ornamentation @fyadorgolan #lfw show @thesavoyhotel
12.37pm: The dripping smiley face on the invitation to Jena Theo was plastered on the backdrop of its salon show. Smooth textured sweatshirts and draping T-shirts were the order of the day here.
Global Blue tweeted: Waiting in the Portico Rooms for Jena.Theo's salon show to start. Smiling faces all round. #lfw
2.35pm: After some trouble with the seating plans, Felder Felder kicked off. Quilted leather, sheers, navy and blacks along with latex gave this collection a dark and mysterious feel. Shearling looks to be an upcoming trend as it featured on the Felder Felder catwalk as well at Bora Aksu earlier in the day.
Poppy Jamie tweeted: Felder Felder.. LOVING the colour scheme.. Dark greens and maroons x
3.06pm: A much needed refuel for the Global Blue editors at Mishkin’s deli (salt-beef sandwiches all round) and a chance to chat about the shows so far.
4.30pm: After a hectic day of shows, we stopped off at Mac’s makeover lounge for some much-needed make-up repairs. Here we opted for a 60s-inspired eye and colour pop lips to see us through the evening’s shows and parties.
6.35pm: Many of today’s shows in the Somerset House tent were oversubscribed. As a result the Global Blue editors were left stranded outside the PPQ show and instead watched the models walk the runway on the large outdoor screen. With the backdrop of Somerset House at twilight, who could complain?
