JW Anderson has collaborated with artistic duo Gilbert & George on an exciting collection that launched this week.
Gilbert & George have often sought inspiration in London’s East End, a leitmotif around which this collaborative collection revolves. Keen to highlight their take on masculinity and modern life in Britain, JW Anderson decided to focus on three of the duo’s works, namely Guard Plants (1980), Dog Boy (1980) and Heavy (1988). These works are printed on the leather jackets, sweatshirts, T-shirts, oversized bags and other pieces within the capsule collection.
The collection is accompanied by the release of a special book, The Pleasure Book for Boys with JW Anderson and Gilbert & George, available from 19 December. It features images shot by acclaimed fashion photographer Alasdair McLellan in the home of Gilbert & George, alongside an interview with the duo.
‘It’s a marriage of British eccentricities and traditions,’ says Jonathan Anderson, founder of JW Anderson, of the collaboration.
The capsule collection is available to shop at the Matches Fashion townhouse, where you can also discover an installation inspired by Gilbert & George.
