What are your impressions of London?
London is a fast-moving city that is always at the forefront of fashion and style. It has an edge and there are so many hidden parts to it. I love this city and I’m so looking forward to the buzz of the Olympics when it starts in the summer.
Which show are you looking forward to most this season and why?
I always look forward to Vivienne Westwood. The make-up is always a statement and is fun and experimental. The whole show process feels like you are on an adventure. The makeup, the venue, the collection, backstage!
Which has been the best show space?
Pam Hogg held one of her shows in an old, derelict car park. It was really dark and had an underground feel to it. It tied in well with the collection which was mysterious, with lots of black fabrics.
What are your Fashion Week must-haves?
MAC Face and Body Foundation, I always have this in my kit at Fashion Week, it’s a great base and works a treat for all the bare legs. I also wouldn’t be without my Mac Blot Powder compact. It’s perfect for last-minute skin touch-ups backstage.
What are your tips for surviving Fashion Week?
Plenty of sleep and herbal tea with manuka honey. It keeps my defence levels high when I’m on the go.
What’s your top stop for food during Fashion Week?
Itsu, I love the quick service and yummy sushi.
And your favourite place for a post-show cocktail?
Balans in Soho – great cocktails and food and always a lively atmosphere.
What are your Fashion Week wardrobe staples?
I always wear my worn-in black faded jeans, a loose fitting vest and a scarf. I wear comfy ankle boots with a small heel. Comfort comes first.
Which is the most treasured piece in your wardrobe and what’s the story behind it?
It has to be my burnout velvet kimono with fringes. It has a soft velvet paisley pattern and feels lovely, and literally goes with every outfit. I love that it instantly dresses up a plain casual outfit and is perfect for any occasion.
What was your most recent luxury purchase?
My iPad. I love it, it helps me keep organised and I’m learning to cook with the apps.
Which is your favourite city for shopping?
San Francisco. I love the Haight-Ashbury district, I always find one-off vintage pieces in the second-hand shops there.
What do you most like about London style?
Its individuality and diversity. London’s new fashion and style is embraced and is translated into many styles day to day. There really is a trend is for everyone here. I love peoplewatching when I’m sitting on the tube.
Which is the most fashionable part of London?
I would say east London, around Shoreditch and Hackney, although I think Camden too! All of these areas are renowned for their creative and individual styles.
Which is your favourite London boutique?
There is shop in east London called Blondie, it has the most random one-off pieces and colourful shoes and boots. It’s fun just to mooch around in there for the lovely vibe and cool music.
Who is your style icon?
Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac. She has a distinctive style and I’m always mesmerised by her floaty dresses and feathery capes.
