Carnaby Street has installed a musical exhibition celebrating a century of music in the area.
The free Carnaby Echoes tour takes visitors on a musical journey – a series of musical plaques has been placed around Soho, starting with a plaque to commemorate the opening of Murray’s jazz club on Beak Street in 1913.
The work of artist Lucy Harrison, the Carnaby Echoes installation shows the diverse and vibrant history of music from 1913 to the present day through various musical genres.
A supporting exhibition at 20 Foubert’s Place includes archive materials, clothing, vintage club signs and rare vinyl catalogues.
Carnaby Echoes runs until 20 October and each visitor will receive a limited-edition pamphlet and a set of headphones to use in the retro sound booth, allowing them to reminisce and rewind back to artists from eras gone by.
