Ecooking started in the kitchen. What inspired you to create your own skincare line?
I was inspired to create my own skincare due to a personal crisis. My skin fell apart and looked more tired and grey than ever before, which wasn’t helped by the fact I lost a lot of weight. As a result, I took some raw materials from the laboratory and started to create my own skincare products at home in my kitchen.
Have organic and natural ingredients always been important to you?
Yes, absolutely, for as long as I can remember! The quality of organic ingredients has vastly improved in the last couple of years.
What makes Ecooking stand out from other skincare brands?
Ecooking is not only a skincare brand but also a troubleshooter at the same time. There is no overall concept to the products and no basic ingredient. They have all been created on the basis of specific requirements and are formulated to target a specific problem. We don´t think like other skincare brands. And, of course, some of our products are so pure they’re actually good enough to eat!
When you were designing the Ecooking packaging, what were the key factors?
There were a number of factors we wanted to implement. Firstly, we wanted it to be simple; we felt that less is more. We also didn’t want any outer packaging, to help protect the environment. I feel so strongly about transparency and wanted the ingredient list to be clearly visible on the packaging. I also wanted the names of each product to be easy to understand, so the consumer knows exactly what is inside. A day cream is just a day cream and nothing else.
Ecooking is available to purchase on Cult Beauty. Where do you like to shop in London?
Yes we are available on a number of UK online websites including Cult Beauty, Look Fantastic, Feel Unique, Indulge Beauty and Mankind. Watch this space for a bricks-and-mortar retailer soon. In London I love going shopping in Covent Garden. It has a fantastic atmosphere and an excellent choice of shops!
Which ingredients do you love using?
I love using organic oils, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamins, and seeing the effects they have on the skin. I also really, really love active ingredients!
What is your current beauty routine? Do you have any favourite treatments you swear by?
My skincare routine, no matter the time or where I am in the world, is to always cleanse and moisturise. I love Sundays as I use the Ecooking Peeling Mask together with the Vitamin E Serum and the results are amazing. It is also really important that I remember to drink water every day to hydrate my skin from within.
What is the biggest beauty myth you’ve come across?
The biggest myth I’ve come across is that you ‘should’ use products from just one brand. I created Ecooking so that the products within the range can be incorporated with each other. They also work very well with products from other brands too. Ecooking is quite simply designed to be food for your skin, and we all know that beautiful skin makes you smile!
What is the bestselling Ecooking product?
Interestingly, it varies by country. In the UK our bestselling product is the Peeling Mask whereas in Denmark it’s our Day Cream.
What’s next for the Ecooking brand?
It’s an exciting year ahead! We are launching several new products, ranging from self-tanning drops to a body lotion and a haircare line. Watch this space…
