This is the only Ralph Lauren store in Turkey, and it’s certain to impress. It has the feel of an elegant country mansion, with wrought iron chandeliers, champagne-coloured velvet armchairs, and a grand staircase lined with oil paintings and black-and-white photos. Ralph Lauren’s classic womenswear is on the ground floor, while the brand’s signature menswear is on the upper level, which is decked out with riding and polo paraphernalia.

Known for its extremely colourful prints and bold patterns, the Italian fashion house Etro is anything but run-of-the-mill. This boutique, with its magenta and peach-coloured rugs and playfully colourful fitting-room curtains, is an apt reflection of the brand. Womenswear is on the entrance level, menswear upstairs. Pick up a blouse with Etro’s signature paisley motif or a belt with the brand’s Pegasus emblem.

DOLCE & GABBANA
The separate men’s and women’s boutiques here are the only Dolce & Gabbana stores in Turkey, although there are D&G label boutiques elsewhere in the country. The women’s store has the same sexy, glamorous vibe found in D&G outlets around the world; there are mirrors and reflective black surfaces everywhere, all-black furniture, and black glass and crystal chandeliers. The boutique showcases the brand’s famous handbags at the front and displays the latest collections at the back. The slightly tamer but still sleek men’s store has jeans, shoes and casual clothing on the entrance level, while suits and the latest season’s styles are upstairs.

This lovely boutique, the only Dior shop in Turkey, is the height of sophisticated French fashion. Bright and welcoming, it’s decorated in shades of white, from the walls with their moulded decorations to the furniture and carpeting, bringing out the beauty and colours of Dior’s fashionable collection. Eveningwear, handbags, shoes and watches are all to be found here. There’s also a small room displaying some of Dior’s famous jewellery; customers can purchase any items that are in the store or order pieces from the Dior Joaillerie catalogues.

Turkey is one of only a handful of European countries where the pre-eminent diamond dealer De Beers has a store, making this boutique all the more special. The shop’s layout follows the same pattern as De Beers boutiques around the world, with the bridal section first, followed by the special collections; the high-end pieces are in the last room. If the breathtaking array of more traditional diamond offerings doesn’t suit you, consider the Talisman collection, the De Beers line that incorporates rough diamonds.

With several locations around the city, Borsa, founded in 1927, is known as one of Istanbul’s finest restaurants for Turkish and Ottoman cuisine, and this branch is no exception. The menu is predictably heavy on meat dishes but there are also hot and cold mezes and salads; we recommend the appetiser of grilled aubergine puree served in a grilled aubergine roll and the grilled lamb küşneme as the main course. Service is top-notch, and the décor is classic: polished wooden floors, dark brown leather-backed chairs, white tablecloths and chandeliers. Overlooking Brands Square, Borsa has an excellent view of the surroundings, especially from the enormous terrace which is open in the summer.

The store also carries Fendi’s women’s clothing line, women’s shoes, and a variety of accessories including scarves, belts and wallets.
