Each year, Swiss watch fair Baselworld showcases some of the most prestigious annual launches in the world of horology. Rolex, perhaps one of the most internationally renowned brands, used this year to exhibit 13 new styles in its ever-popular Oyster Perpetual collection, and it is safe to say that Rolex enthusiasts will not be disappointed.
The men’s offering highlighted a new 42mm case size for the Yacht-Master design, as well as new colourways for the Sea-Dweller and GMT-Master II ranges, in yellow gold, and black and blue ceramic respectively. One of the key pieces for 2019 is an all-new Cosmograph Daytona, a regularly reinvented piece for Rolex. This year the model features an elaborate bezel in diamond and black lacquer, as well as a diamond-set bezel, and glimmering 18-carat yellow gold.
An aesthetic facelift has also been given to three of the brand’s most popular smaller women’s and unisex designs. The Day-Date 36 has five new varieties: the yellow gold with a green dial and rose gold with a brown dial versions both feature bright diamonds in place of numbers; two models featuring precious stone dials in turquoise and pink opal are key styles; and the full pavé version with rainbow sapphires is clearly the star of the show. The Datejust 36, with a mother of pearl or black dial and new bracelet options, will always be a classic choice, with or without diamonds. The smallest launch for 2019 comes in the form of the Datejust 31, in rose gold or olive green, featuring new Roman numerals on the dial.
No matter which design takes your fancy, Rhodium’s Istanbul boutiques and Rolex stores are the ideal place to discover the pieces for yourself.
