With much of Baselworld centred around the luxury watch market, Mikimoto’s premium pearl jewellery stood out this year, with its expert craftsmanship and modern designs.
Last year marked the 120th anniversary of Mikimoto’s invention of cultured pearls and 2014 has shown how the brand is continuing to evolve, with four new pearl jewellery collections encompassing the natural world.
The Dew collection takes inspiration from serene waters, with baroque pearls mirroring underwater bubbles and sparkling diamonds representing trickling drops of water.
Sun & Clouds takes inspiration from the sky and has a warm and glowing feel. The double-layered pearl necklace features a gradient colour scheme and yellow-gold diamonds reminiscent of the sun.
The standout piece is the Angelic body necklace. Worn draped over the body and created using pearls and diamonds, this masterpiece would be stunning against a classic, black bodycon dress.
To complete the showcase Mikimoto introduced the transitional Brio necklace, which features seven layers of pearls connected through a simple white gold clasp. Whatever way you wear it, this piece is sure to complement your outfit for any occasion.
