Event highlights range from the city’s summer festival to the highly popular Geneva Street Food Festival, which is held at the end of August. Those interested in sailing should attend Bol d’Or Mirabaud, the largest inland lake regatta in the world. For those not sure exactly when they’ll be visiting this lake-centred city, fear not – there’s a multitude of attractions on offer all-year round, from the Jet d’Eau fountain to the city’s botanical gardens and world-class museums. If you’re in the city on a family holiday, Geneva’s beaches are top attractions for children, especially on a sunny afternoon. The MAMCO museum of modern contemporary art in Geneva has one of the greatest collections of modern art in Switzerland, and is a must-visit for any art lover.

The Jet d’Eau – water jet – is a huge fountain located in Lake Geneva. It has become a landmark in the city and makes for a spectacular photograph. For an up-close experience, take a stroll along the Jetée des Eaux-Vives pier, which leads towards the fountain’s base.
Geneva Street Food Festival
Offering dishes from all over the world, the Geneva Street Food Festival is a must-visit for any foodie. Visitors can enjoy sweet and savoury delights from Thailand, Peru, Mexico and beyond, and the festival, located on the Promenade de Saint-Antoin and the Promenade du Pin, runs from August 29 to 1 September.
Bol d’Or Mirabaud
The world’s largest inland lake regatta, Bol d’Or Mirabaud is an unmissable event for any sailing fans. It is held at Lake Geneva this year from 14-16 June.
Conservatoire et Jardin Botaniques Genève
Geneva’s botanical gardens and conservatory truly are marvellous in the summer months. With the gardens in full bloom and the sun shining, it’s the perfect place for a family picnic and a real joy for any horticulturalist.

Sandy shorelines and cool waters provide a picturesque backdrop for any sunny day this summer. There are two main beaches in the city to choose from: Bains des Pâquis on the right bank of the lake, and Baby Plage on the left.
Fête de Genève
Fête de Genève is an annual festival held at the height of summer and creates a real buzz in the city. If you’re visiting the city on August 11, be sure to see the large fireworks display on the waterfront in the evening.
