One of the brightest and boldest watchmakers in Switzerland, Hublot has launched five new models and a strap collection for 2019
Founded in 1980, Swiss watch brand Hublot has long been known for its bold, daring and colourful watches, and the brand’s 2019 offering is no exception. With new incarnations of its Big Bang and Classic Fusion models as well as an all-new interchangeable strap range, there is plenty to covet in the new collection.
The Big Bang, perhaps the most renowned of Hublot’s designs, is reimagined in two different styles for 2019. The Big Bang Unico White in 42mm case size is a unisex model, defined by its striking white strap and available in titanium or King Gold, a unique Hublot alloy of gold, copper and platinum. The style is available without diamonds, with a pavé bezel or with a full pavé case for maximum sparkle.
The other Big Bang novelty offers something quite special. It is one of the first times ever that a Paraiba tourmaline, one of the rarest precious gemstones, has been used in a timepiece.
On average only one Paraiba tourmaline is mined for every 10,000 diamonds, making the stones truly exceptional. The Big Bang Unico and the Big Bang One Click models have both been adorned with this vibrant Brazilian stone.
Closely related to the Big Bang, Hublot’s Spirit of Big Bang model has also been revamped. Since 2016 the brand has launched transparent, black, blue and red sapphire cases, 2019 marks the next step with a vivid yellow sapphire case.
An innovation in engineering from Hublot, these large solid sapphire cases are not only striking but incredibly durable and vastly complex to create.
For the new Classic Fusion models, Hublot looked to the artist Richard Orlinski to create graphic, geometric designs. Having worked together since 2017, Hublot and Orlinski have a well-established partnership. The Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski model is a modern, faceted design available in white sapphire, black ceramic or Hublot’s King Gold.
For an even bolder choice, the Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Orlinski Red Magic model is certainly worth considering. Limited to 200 pieces, the watch takes the graphic lines of the Classic Fusion Tourbillon Orlinski and reworks them in bright red ceramic.
The colour takes reference from Orlinski’s first sculpture, Born Wild Crocodile, created in 2004.
The final addition to Hublot’s 2019 offering is the brand’s innovative Big Bang One Click interchangeable strap range. Teaming up with Bischoff, expert Swiss embroiderer from St Gallen, Hublot presents six new colourfully embroidered straps, perfect for the summer.
The range allows Hublot owners to transform their existing Big Bang models or new customers to purchase a brilliantly versatile model, which can be altered by a more conservative strap at a moment’s notice.
