Founded in 1888, Swiss watchmaker Certina has been well known for partnerships throughout its existence. From sporting associations to deep sea projects with the US navy and expeditions to the top of Mount Everest, the company’s collaborative spirit has flourished. In 1959 the turtle, symbolising robustness and longevity, was adopted as Certina’s logo, so it logically follows that one of the brand’s latest and most poignant partnerships is with the Sea Turtle Conservancy. Certina has pledged donations throughout the partnership to aid the conservation of the sea turtle and its habitats.
To celebrate the collaboration, the brand has launched a special-edition model of its ever-popular DS Action Diver watch. Available from May this year, the DS Action Diver Sea Turtle Conservancy model features the Sea Turtle Conservancy’s own turtle logo in place of the traditional Certina turtle, and a second hand in the organisation’s signature green. The watch is, of course, waterproof, to 300m, making it perfect for supporting these endangered animals above or below the water.
