In June 2012, art aficionados will flock to Värmdö in the Stockholm archipelago for the opening of Artipelag, a new 9,000-square-metre gallery, conference and cultural centre, built on a 54-acre site of outstanding natural beauty. The new centre, which is the creative and financial initiative of Björn Jakobson, founder of BabyBjörn and art lover, was inspired by Denmark’s Louisiana museum. Future plans for the site include a shop dedicated to Swedish design, a hotel and several restaurants. Artipelag, accessed by boat, is only only 15 minutes from the centre of Stockholm and promises to become a favourite among locals and visitors to the Swedish capital alike.
