I was born in a small, modest village near the mountains of Jaén – a really beautiful landscape that inspires me hugely.
At the moment I live in Seville and in Barcelona. The contrast between those two is important in my work; it helps and encourages me. I really like them both. Barcelona is special because of the kindhearted people living in the city. Having great people around makes every location perfect.
If money were no object, I would live maybe in Paris or maybe in New York. I can imagine living in both of those fashion capitals. But for the moment, I am curious and open for the future.
There are many beautiful, small vintage shops to explore in Barcelona. I enjoy getting lost in the stores in the neighbourhoods of El Raval or El Born, feeling the quality of the fabrics and soaking up inspiration.
I like the atmosphere of the restaurant in Mercat de Santa Caterina; El Kiosko, in Mercat de la Boquería, is perfect for eating great hamburgers.
I especially like cafés or bars that are extraordinary and have their own character. Mercat de la Boquería and El Kiosco are great places, where I immediately feel at home.
I would take friends that are visiting to as many of the small bars that are typical of Barcelona as possible. Without doubt, my favourite is the Mercat de la Boquería. Las Ramblas is the place to go for having a great night out, whereas the Mercat de Santa Caterina is more cosy.
Every corner of Barcelona is special to me and inspiring. Most of all I recommend the neighbourhoods of El Raval or Gràcia. My favourite walk is definitely around El Born.
When it comes to landmarks, I think immediately of the Passeig de Gràcia; this promenade has so much charm due to the great people and locations around it. The Museu Picasso is my favourite museum.
Try to see as much as possible of the city. The diversity of its places and residents is well worth exploration. I enjoy taking a walk or cycling around Barcelona; the city’s fresh breeze in the morning is brilliant.
For inspiration I go back to my roots in the heart of the south of Spain. I could not live without my home there - the sun, the oil and the orange juice. And I could not live without chocolate either!
