The Loewe flagship store on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia has been a landmark on the popular shopping street for over 65 years. The leather goods and fashion brand enlisted architect Peter Marino to modernise the boutique and reinvent the store for today’s luxury market – while retaining the original features that reflect its heritage.
Marino, who had previously worked on the brand’s London store, was able to experiment with styles and features in Barcelona as the store’s three storeys have sufficient space to allow his creativity free rein. The updated interior features Loewe’s signature soft bronze and golden brown palette, balanced with splashes of white for a cooling, uplifting effect. Bronze and copper shelving allows the brand’s handbags to stand out, especially the popular Amazona tote bags.
On arrival at the updated store, customers discover a room full of Loewe’s luxurious leather bags, along with a designated area for clients who require bespoke service. The lower ground floor houses menswear collections, from ready-to-wear pieces to accessories; the special men’s VIP room is an added extra. The largest section of the store is reserved for womenswear, with an upper level housing women’s runway collections and accessories.
