Moncler has opened a new retail space in Tokyo called the House of Genius. This is a continuation of the brand’s Moncler Genius concept, which was first introduced in February 2018, when the brand completely transformed its structure, opting for capsule collections. Each of the eight Genius collections is created in collaboration with a different creative, such as Simone Rocha, Craig Green or Pierpaolo Piccioli. The House of Genius Tokyo brings together these co-branded capsule collections, each with its own distinct identity, and the new space plays with the idea of a concept store and features interactive elements.
Highlights at the new House of Genius in Tokyo include the latest instalment of the Genius project, Moncler Palm Angels, which launched on 4 October. Palm Angels started out as a coffee table book which documented the skateboarding scene of LA, and has since evolved into a fashion brand which draws on skateboarding and American culture. Its founder, Francesco Ragazzi, spent more than 10 years working for Moncler so it’s hardly surprising that he has known exactly how to create a capsule collection that marries signature elements of both brands. The collection comprises puffer jackets, tracksuits, parkas, T-shirts and other designs in the streetwear and sportswear scene which Palm Angels is anchored in. Based on a colour scheme of red, black and white, pieces can be easily mixed-and-matched while being worn in a myriad of ways. The slogans ‘Make It Rain’ and ‘I’m So High’ combined with the Moncler logo give the designs in this collection a strong identity.
The new House of Genius store is also home to the other Genius capsule collections, including Moncler Simone Rocha, Moncler Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara and Moncler Kei Ninomiya.
