Florence is regarded as the shoe capital of the world, with countless top Italian fashion houses making their name in the city. Salvatore Ferragamo also founded his eponymous label in Florence, and the brand has gone on to cater to everyone from stars of the silent film era to modern-day icons of the silver screen. It’s one of the city’s biggest fashion names, and no trip to Florence is complete without a visit to the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo. This year, the museum just became even more unmissable as it hosts a new exhibition: Tra Arte e Moda (Across Art and Fashion).
Open daily from 10am to 7.30pm until 7 April 2017, the exhibition will explore the dialogue between these two worlds, focusing on the work of Salvatore Ferragamo and the avant-garde art movement of the 20th century that inspired him. The exhibit will showcase a rich catalogue of clothing, accessories, fabrics, photographs and works of art from the brand and others as it tries to establish the relationship between art and fashion.
