This season’s sport trend is here to stay, with menswear collections for next summer featuring casual, sporty influences. Z Zegna’s runway show in Milan on Monday saw the label move away from the sharp tailoring seen in the mainline Ermenegildo Zegna collection in favour of softer and looser pieces with splashes of bright spring pastels.
The light and airy collection combines strong sea green, pastel yellow and tangerine orange colours with neutral tones of khaki, blue-grey and beige. It features relaxed garments such as short-sleeved suit jackets and loose-fitting knee shorts teamed with classic brown leather tasselled shoes with sporty rubber soles, a twist on the typical men’s shoe.
In similar fashion to the mainline collection, Z Zegna uses a style that was popular in the late 90s; a collection of shimmering two-tone shirts and loose-fitting suits. For extra vibrance models showcased a variety of geometric print pieces accessorised with retro circular mirrored glasses and oversized bags, giving a modern vintage feel ahead of next summer.
