The autumn/winter 2016 catwalks were awash with sumptuous accessories as designers brought tactile and often opulent textures and finishes to the fore. Plush purses featured at Loewe and Versace, with both brands using fur to adorn their creations. Another top trend, both in the ready-to-wear collections and accessories, was gothic glamour, and many fashion houses conjuring up wonderfully quirky heirloom pieces for their collections. Miu Miu featured sumptuous velvets with chunky metal chains, while Marni also used heavy embellishment to add some glamour. Embroidery also featured heavily in AW16’s accessories, with Fendi, Gucci and Chanel adding charming embellishment to their bags.
