Simonetta Ravizza’s spring/summer 2013 collection displayed a wide range of inspirations as it launched viewers on an imaginary journey across continents. A trip that started out as an African safari adventure, with animal prints, earthy tones and tribal-style jewellery, ended in a 1960s London time warp, with minimalistic monochrome and very short hemlines. One element that remained constant throughout the collection, however, was the use of fur. Simonetta Ravizza is renowned for her skills with such materials and this season she once again showed us why. A brilliant skirt in black ostrich feathers and a shift dress made of black and white fur were the highlights among the many leather and suede pieces also on offer. The colour palette of this spring/summer collection was no surprise, as autumnal shades have quickly become a theme at this season’s shows. Perhaps the designers know something about next summer’s weather that we don’t?
