Next summer the Gucci woman will be sipping cocktails on the French Riviera dressed head to toe in a single colour. Frida Giannini’s spring/summer 2013 collection for Gucci at Milan Fashion Week showed no fear of being too coordinated as models walked the runway dressed in all-over fuschia pink, deep turquoise, chartreuse, white and black, a similar palette to that seen at Burberry’s spring/summer 2013 show in London.
The 1970s silhouette familiar from many Gucci collections was clearly evident as trousers swung around ankle-strap sandals and bell-shaped sleeves billowed. Long sleeves and high necks dominated, but this didn’t mean that skin wasn’t on show; exposed backs were a main feature thanks to racer backs and ruffles.
Snakeskin shot with colour, bold oriental flower prints and embellished necklaces and earrings punctuated the otherwise sleek, strong, block-coloured collection.
