The autumn/winter 2016 menswear shows once again emphasised the softer side of men’s fashion, with collections veering towards romanticism. Gucci, Prada and Bottega Veneta all offered different ways of softening the silhouette, with cashmere double-breasted tailoring, silk linings and velvet fusions coming to the fore. Gucci once again proved a highlight of Milan Men’s Fashion Week, with a very romantic collection featuring tapestry coats, brocade jackets and silk pairings; its looks made a refreshing change from traditional styles. Space-age modernism was also a big trend at the AW16 collections, with high-shine metallics, embroidered biker jackets and foil-like bombers looking like space suits. Take a look at the top seven menswear trends for autumn/winter 2016 as seen in Milan.
