With shopping top of the list for things to do in Milan, no doubt you’ll be spending much of your stay around Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga. Connecting these two roads is the tranquil Via Gesù, where you will find the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi. Situated next to the Four Seasons Hotel, the museum invites you to take a few moments to relax and experience of one of Italy’s exceptional 19th-century homes.
The beautifully decorated house reflects the enthusiasm of brothers Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi, who spent the 1880s painstakingly renovating their home in the fashionable neo-Renaissance style.
The attention to detail is exceptional, with modern conveniences cleverly concealed within the design, while the paintings and decorative items from the 15th and 16th centuries are reminiscent of a princely Lombard home. There is much to admire: look out for the tapestries, bronzes, wall friezes and impressive fireplaces.
