Where do you like to shop in Amsterdam?
I love food shopping in little local shops that sell foreign products – we call them ‘tokos’. Tjin’s Toko (1E van der Helststraat 64) is one of the oldest in the Netherlands and has a great range.
Are there any good places for bargain hunting?
Definitely the Noordermarkt (de Jordaan). On Mondays there are numerous stalls with second-hand clothing, furniture and lots of trinkets. Make sure you get there early!
Where do you go for a coffee afterwards?
Westergasterras (Klonneplein 4-6) or Café George (Leidsegracht 84) with a lovely view of the canals.
Which restaurants can you recommend?
It’s got to be Mazzo (Rozengracht 114). The interior is incredible and the Italian food is wonderful. I also like Lion Noir (Reguliersdwarsstraat 28), which offers lunch, cocktails and French cuisine.
Are there any secret spots you can tell us about?
There is a great new shop called Options (Damrak 49), which sells designs from exciting international brands and up-and-coming Dutch talent.
