Just before jetting off to the Met Costume Institute gala in New York, Stella McCartney visited Berlin to meet the finalists for the Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf Designer for Tomorrow award. This was the first time McCartney had the chance to view the collections and speak to this year’s up-and-coming talents about their designs in person.
Chosen from more than 350 applicants across Europe, this year’s Designer for Tomorrow finalists are Ioana Ciolacu Miron of the London Collage of Fashion, Katy Clark of Northumbria University, Hannah Kuklinski of HS Hannover, Annalena Skörl Maul of Haw Hamburg and Jamie Wei Huang of Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design.
In April it was announced that Stella McCartney would be the new patron for Peek & Cloppenburg’s award, which promotes new design talent from across Europe as an investment in the store’s own future.
The winner of this year’s Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf Designer for Tomorrow award will be chosen by McCartney and the other judges at Berlin Fashion Week in July, where each of the shortlisted nominees will show the collections on which they have been working.
