Founded in 1978 in Munich, Escada has based its fashion empire around glamorous 1980s power dressing. With looks celebrating career-minded, powerful women, the brand has become renowned for its strong suits, bold colours and glamorous eveningwear. But for the autumn/winter 2019/20 collection, creative director Niall Sloan had a different source for the inspiration behind the range. The Hollywood actress and inventor Hedy Lamarr is the muse behind Escada’s AW19 collection. Hedy Lemarr’s spirit evokes an elegant, more feminine look. Despite this softer iteration of femininity, the collection still champions tailoring, with structured blazers, chic two-pieces and sleek jacquard trousers. Take a look at the new-season highlights here with our round up of 10 of the best items from the Escada AW19 collection.
