What do you think is the best museum in your city?
Munich is home to some wonderful galleries. The Lenbachhaus, with its collection of paintings by the group of artists known as Der Blaue Reiter, is my favourite.
Who from your city do you most admire?
The violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and tenor Jonas Kaufmann both live in Munich. I am also a fan of Marco Kreuzpaintner, a young film director from Munich who has just started his career in Hollywood.
Any advice for those visiting Munich?
Enjoy all its aspects: art, history, the shopping district with its famous monuments, the numerous cafés and restaurants, the Olympic stadium, the parks and the river Isar and the beer gardens with their distinctive identity.
What can’t you live without?
I could never live without the wonderful nature around Munich. With its mountains, lakes, castles and baroque churches, it’s one of Germany’s most beautiful cultural landscapes.
