DO: Cocoon Club
Sven Väth became a trailblazer in the European electronic music scene when he founded OFF (Organization for Fun). But Väth’s real legacy is forming Cocoon records and organising the Cocoon Club, the hub of Frankfurt’s creative community. The club covers 29,000 square feet, which house multiple layers of performances, concerts, bars and a row of VIP cocoon-like pods which provide precious quiet moments to revive and revitalise.

Silk is known as Frankfurt’s most futuristic restaurant, yet its surroundings are surprisingly old-fashioned. Buried behind car dealerships and industrial buildings, Silk began as the eaterie for the DJs and cool crowd that frequent the fashionable Cocoon Club. It has evolved into a destination in itself. While top-tier DJs provide a world-beat soundtrack, diners lounge on white leather beds under white chiffon curtains and enjoy Austrian chef Mario Lohninger’s strictly set menu off translucent TV-dinner trays. Despite the ambiance, the food is the real attraction. The preparation is high-tech, featuring nitrogen buckets and innovative combinations, but the results are timelessly delicious.
