‘A work of art lives in the composition’ is the thinking behind Annette Görtz’s spring/summer 2012 Art in Fashion collection, which is available from her boutique Milian. Contrasts, fine lines and abstract shapes form the main focus. Laser-cut leather, as seen on a stone-coloured cocoon dress, give the pieces a multi-dimensional feel. Everyday classics have been given a modern interpretation by Görtz: there are tulip-shaped coats, shirts cut with asymmetric hems, and neat jackets transformed with statement bell sleeves. Pieces in stone and light grey are a guaranteed hit for those who prefer understated summer dressing, while the series of linen and transparent matte gold designs are perfect for light layering. The striped tops and tunics present throughout the collection will certainly satisfy Görtz’s less avant-garde clients.
