With venues ranging from beach bars on the river Spree to rooftop venues overlooking the famous Berlin TV Tower, summer is the perfect time to make the most of the German capital. After weathering the city’s notoriously cold winter, Berlin’s attractions and parks offer a whole host of exciting events, helping you to make the most of the warmer months. Here, we take a look at the top five things to do in Berlin this summer 2018.
21 June: Fête de la Musique 2018
Kick-start your summer trip to Berlin with a night of open-air music. Every year, on 21 June, the Fête de la Musique arrives in the German capital, showcasing a superb line-up of top musicians. The city’s streets, squares and parks become hubs for live entertainment and all live performances are free to attend. With music from every age and genre, this is a great way to get a feel for Berlin’s exciting music and cultural scene.
3-7 July: Berlin Fashion Week 2018
Germany’s fashion scene takes centre stage this summer as Berlin Fashion Week returns for its second session of the year. From 3-7 July, some of Germany’s best fashion labels will showcase the latest trends at fashion shows, exhibitions and trade shows throughout the city.
1 May to 9 September marks the bathing season in Berlin. While the city is blessed with plenty of open-air pools and lakes, Badeschiff is one of the most popular venues to cool off at during the peak summer months. A harboured barge in the river Spree acts as a floating swimming pool and the 32-metre pool is a focal point for summer culture and entertainment in the German capital. Badeschiff offers the perfect place to keep cool as well as unique panoramic views of the river and the famous Berlin TV tower.

A garden, club and beer garden, Klunkerkranich has become one of Berlin’s worst-kept secrets due to its popularity with the city’s cool crowd and the international fashion pack. Located on the roof top of the Neukölln Arcaden shopping centre, in the south-eastern part of the city, it is one of the best places to spend a balmy summer evening in Berlin. With impressive views of the bohemian neighbourhood of Neukölln and the Berlin TV Tower in the distance, it is the ideal spot to watch the sunset. Secure a spot early enough and you’ll be rewarded with top beer, great views and relaxing music from live DJs.
