This year has been one of change for Dior with the arrival of its new artistic director Raf Simons, so it’s no surprise that its fine jewellery designer Victoire de Castellane has also taken a fresh approach with the latest collection, unveiled at this year’s Biennale des Antiquaires show in Paris. It features a dazzling array of oversized vintage-style jewellery pieces in a vibrant carnival of colours. Previous collections were notable for pieces with a story to tell. This time, the more abstract designs were inspired by the costume jewellery that Christian Dior used to design for his couture collections, with names that reference famous couture dresses. With exquisitely engraved backs based on historic lace designs, this collection brings Dior’s rich heritage up to date to impressive effect.
