Alber Elbaz chose to mark his 10th anniversary at Lanvin with a celebration of colour, which headed down the runway in front of an audience including Pharrell Williams, Carine Roitfeld and Filipino fashion blogger Bryanboy on the front row.
Rich candy-coloured suits kicked off the show and celebrated the curves of the women Elbaz dresses. Tailored monochrome skirt suits nipped in at the waist accentuated the hips and the peplum signified the now classic Lanvin ruffle. The clothes were sensual and confident, but not without a sense of fun.
This office-ready party girl was soon replaced by a more serious co-worker. Here, the addition of texture compensated for the lack of colour; leather-embossed balloon-sleeved jackets with black fur necks reprised the earlier nipped-in silhouette. Leather also edged calf-length oversized coats and the waists of deep v-necked dresses.
This being his 10th anniversary show, it seemed that Elbaz revealed the party spirit in the final pieces of the collection, where the sense of restraint was relaxed. Sparkles were added to the previously plain fabrics and jewel tones were revealed under black lace patterns, creating an altogether more mischievous party-goer with red furs draped over her shoulder, frills on her skirt, oversized necklaces from the dressing up box and glitter on her shoes.
