Céline is famous for its minimalistic chic – sometimes stark, often effortless. Designer Phoebe Philo always seems to be able to offer up a look that perfectly suits the modern woman, and for spring/summer 2013 it seems she has a present for us. With tops and dresses wrapped at the shoulders, it looked as if the models had been engulfed by big bows, like perfect gifts. The twists of material came in grown-up shades of navy, champagne and black, stopping the look from appearing too saccharine. Shapes weren’t overtly feminine; as always there was a good dose of tailoring in the collection, yet the delicate silks and satins helped to give a softer edge to the look. As with every Céline collection of recent years this is sure to be a hit with women worldwide, the practicality mixed with femininity being hard to resist.
