Haute Couture has long been seen as the jewel in the fashion week crown – the finest and highest craft in fashion. For the autumn/winter 2018 haute couture collections, designers seemed to pay tribute to its purest form. Chanel, Armani Privé and Dior harked back to the art of traditional haute couture, favouring exquisite gowns and eveningwear over the athleisure trend that has filtered through to all areas of the fashion industry. At Givenchy, there was an air of reflection as artistic director Clare Waight Keller paid a touching tribute to the house’s founder, Hubert de Givenchy, and his iconic designs. Wedding dresses were once again the highlights of many collections as designers created showstopping gowns worthy of any bride. Take a look at the week’s highlights and standout haute couture AW18 collections here.
