Swedish mega-store H&M has become the go-to brand for designer collaborations. Since its partnership with Karl Lagerfeld in 2004, a roster of big fashion brands have since collaborated with H&M, from Versace to Erdem, Balmain and, most recently, Moschino.
On 23 May, H&M unveiled Giambattista Valli as its next designer collaborator for 2019. The partnership was announced at the Amfar gala in Cannes, where Kendall Jenner and Chiara Ferragni were among the first to wear designs from the new H&M x Giambattista Valli collection.
For the first time, H&M will be offering a pre-release of the collection – pieces worn on the red carpet on Thursday will be available online and in 12 selected stores from 25 May.
Italian-born, Paris-based Giambattista Valli’s eponymous couture and ready-to-wear label is known for its red-carpet-ready designs and signature multi-tier tulle gowns. The first looks of the new pre-release collection reveal that the iconic house codes have been translated to the high street, with frothy dresses, statement glitter shoes and covetable jewellery. The collaboration with H&M, which features several menswear pieces, is the first time Valli has created menswear.
The main collection launches worldwide on 7 November 2019. Take a look at the Giambattista Valli x H&M pre-collection here.
