Chanel takes it collections to new heights every season, and its latest Cruise collection show in the idyllic Versailles gardens was no exception. Top fashion editors and stylists attended the fashion show of the season, which saw models showcase the new Cruise collection from Chanel around Versailles’ impressive fountains.
The models wore an eclectic mix of avant-garde pieces featuring defined waists, micro shorts, culottes and coats fusing denim and tweed. As a fashion-forward twist, some models wore creeper shoes and coloured short bobbed wigs over ponytails tied with a ‘CC’ bow, pushing the envelope of creativity. The floral pastel collection featured splashes of colour creating an edgy vibe that made the pieces feel casual and carefree. Chanel’s head designer Karl Lagerfeld described the collection as ‘French rock with a very 18th-century frivolity’.
After the event, guests were treated to a walk through the gardens, finishing with an exclusive cocktail party. To sum up the show, Lagerfeld added, ‘Modernity and classical beauty can be combined and mixed up at Chanel.’
