Nicole Kidman attended the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival last week in a beaded Dior gown and this weekend the couture house unveiled its Cruise 2014 collection in Monte Carlo.
Combining classic touches reminiscent of Dior’s early years with the contemporary sports-luxe trend, the new Cruise collection highlights the new energy Raf Simons has brought to the famous label.
Dior’s signature lace detailing featured heavily in each piece, while metallics, panelling, colour blocking and sporty touches added a new edge.
Summer colours of cobalt blue, neon orange and acid yellow were teamed with sheer lace fabrics and simple black pieces for an alternative take on the Dior look.
Those looking for floaty dresses were not disappointed and each style came in spring pastel shades of coral and jade green.
The new collection shows that, while Dior has not forsaken its roots, it can add modern touches without losing its classic Parisian signature.
