It is like a little village: cosy and quiet, with a bakery that is open on Sundays, which is rare in Vienna.

Beside a lake somewhere.
Which street in Vienna do you like best?
I really like the Second District, around Karmelitermarkt. It’s the old Jewish quarter.
Do you have a favourite café?
Café Jelinek on Otto Bauer Gasse is a good place for breakfast.
Where do you go for a drink with friends?
Eissalon Joanelli on Joanelligasse – it has that name because it used to be an ice-cream parlour.
Any recommendations for Austrian dishes to try?
Try all the sweets.
Which city landmarks best sum up Vienna for you?
All the old coffee houses in town.
Where do you take out-of-town friends?
Loos Bar, on Kärntner Strasse, which is a tiny and very charming cocktail bar designed by the Austrian architect Adolf Loos.
What do you think is the best museum in town?
I love movies. So for me, it is the Film Museum on Augustiner Strasse. It shows contemporary movies as well as retrospectives. There is a library, a film archive and a cosy bar.
Any advice for visitors?
Come in the spring or summertime to see Vienna at its best.

Hotel Altstadt on Kirchengasse.
Any places you’d recommend visitors avoid?
Mariahilfer Strasse on Saturdays.
