One of the most famous Austrian brands, Swarovski has been producing its celebrated crystals since 1895. Nadja Swarovski, the great-great-granddaughter of founder Daniel Swarovski, launched the Atelier Swarovski line in 2007, inspired by the brand’s heritage and its links to the Parisian couture houses of the early 1900s. Paying tribute to long-standing collaborations with the world of high fashion, Atelier Swarovski invites different designers each season to create a capsule collection of high-end pieces that showcase the sparkling stones.
For spring summer 2018, the brand had not one but three big designer names in the mix. Long-time collaborators Jason Wu and Christopher Kane, now in their third and sixteenth seasons respectively, were joined for a second time by British fashion designer Mary Katrantzou, with each designer putting their own spin on the Atelier Swarovski line.
Katrantzou, directly influenced by her spring/summer 2018 ready-to-wear collection, used geometric shapes and colourful stones to create the Nostalgia collection. Creatively drawing on memories of her youth, Katrantzou’s bold colourful designs feature rainbows of Swarovski crystals, making them the perfect statement pieces for the season.
Building on his original Mosaic collection for the brand, Jason Wu’s latest pieces utilize clear and champagne-coloured crystals, teamed with mini pearls and set in yellow gold plating. The elegant, wearable pieces are the perfect special-occasion accessories, for when only real sparkle will suffice.
The Christopher Kane Bolster collection has become something of a signature for Atelier Swarovski and has been a mainstay of the brand’s collection for over a decade. For spring/summer 2018, new shades of bright fuchsia and electric blue have been added to the chunky statement collection of bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings.
Whichever collection most appeals to you, there’s no doubt that the Atelier Swarovski collaborations offer something for everyone searching for a bit of summer sparkle.
