Global Blue Launches Its Monthly Observatory

We are launching the first Global Blue Observatory to track any recovery sign and early trend in the international shopping sector

Travel and Retail industries have been suffering a lot with the previous lockdown and the borders ‘shutdown. In order to deliver the latest news and insights about business recovery to its retailer partners and provide them with fresh and added-value information, Global Blue launches a new Intelligence report tool: The Global Blue Observatory.

In this context of uncertainty and fast-changing trends, we decided to launch this Observatory to support our clients and partners in tracking any recovery sign and early trend in the international shopping sector, combining our unique set of data with external expert views.

Every month, the Observatory takes the pulse of retailers and international shoppers, combining latest Tax Free Shopping data, industry and traveller survey results, as well as external Travel Partner expertise.

The Observatory is shared in the form of a webinar, accessible to all our business partners, and a specific presentation available for the attendees.

During our first session held in June, around 300 people from the whole industry across Europe and Asia joined the webinar presented by Jacques Stern, President and CEO of Global Blue and Virginie Alem, VP Customer Value Creation for Global Blue. They talked about the Tax Free shopping industry and deep-dived on the sentiment of Chinese consumers post-Covid, thanks to data collected end of May. At the end of the session, David Vu, Associate Director of Commercial Strategy & Operations at TripAdvisor, joined us as special guest to share traveller online searches.
